Michelle Grant is a native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Michelle works in oils, acrylic and graphite and brings a sound understanding of design, light, form and anatomy to all of her work. She has a unique ability to combine a realist style with unusual impressionist input.
A graduate of the Alberta College of Art, Michelle is also a full member of the prestigious American Academy of Equine Art, based in Georgetown, Kentucky. She has been the recipient of numerous international awards for her work. A diverse artist, Michelle has been working with the Royal Canadian Mint since 2002 designing numerous gold, silver and circulation coins. In addition, she has participated in creating the Mural Mosaic for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.
Michelle has exhibited in the Calgary Stampede’s Western Art Show & Auction for many years and recently garnered the distinguished 2012 Artistic Achievement Award. She was also commissioned to create the Calgary Stampede’s 100th year commemorative gold and silver coins for the Royal Canadian Mint. She has participated in many fundraiser “Quick Draws” for the Calgary Stampede, Rodeo Royal and the CM Russell Art Show in Montana.
Art instruction is one of her strengths and she always finds time to teach art lessons and conduct workshops, as well as encourage young artists. She has been published in numerous magazines and books, most recently having her painting “Sky High” chosen for the July 2013 Western Horseman’s rodeo issue.
Michelle and her work were featured on the television program “Hidden Gems” that aired in 2009, and she has been a featured guest on the award winning “Cowboy Country Television”.
The consistent quality of her work has resulted in its’ collection by both private and corporate clients world wide. Working from her studio in Calgary, she currently has gallery representation through Gainsborough Galleries (Calgary, Alberta), and the Avens Gallery (Canmore, Alberta).
